In an effort to encourage alternative transportation, designBridge wrote an Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC) grant to support a project at Camas Ridge Elementary School. Camas Pedal is the third bike shelter project that designBridge has taken on and it represents the largest and most complex solution yet. The project goal is to facilitate increased bike ridership at the school. The team addressed this challenge by improving bike-parking facilities and creating a beautiful covered outdoor space where children could gather, or wait for parents. The steel and wood structure will serve as an iconic form and is part of a large-scale effort to engage children in the outdoors and a more sustainable way of living.
